It’s not as bad as it sounds! No, we haven’t had a flood. We’ve recently installed a water cooler in the office and showroom, which is great considering the weather is finally starting to improve and the temperature is going up. If you are a parent of school age children, you will be familiar with the usual ‘make sure your child has a bottle of water every day’ message. Most of us know that drinking water is good for us (as opposed to drinking sugary pop). Our bodies are made up of 2 thirds water, so it’s no great surprise that we need water to stay healthy.
Lack of water can lead to dehydration. We get headaches, don’t concentrate as well, are more tired than usual and we get grumpy. It’s not just children in school, this affects all of us.
It really doesn’t matter what environment you are in, be it shop fitting, retail, office, school, construction or factory, by providing your staff with access to fresh water you will be helping them to feel better and be more productive.
You don’t have to install a cooler (though this may be more cost effective), small simple measures such as providing a small bottle of water every day to staff can make a large difference. I, after getting used to having a water cooler in the office (and being nagged by Chris to drink more!), try to drink a cup or two whilst at work every day. Try it, it really makes a difference.
Having said all that the old saying is still very true today; you can lead a horse to water……?
