How to Create Stunning Window Displays This Winter

Window displays are a vital aspect of attracting customers attention, and it allows you to be imaginative and creative with your shop displays. With differing seasons throughout the year, displays tend to reflect this, and winter is no different.

There are numerous ways to create stunning displays this winter, which are both eye-catching and attention grabbing. At Crown Display, we want to give you some ideas of how to create these displays.

Change Up Your Displays

Changing your window displays regularly helps to keep consumers interested in your store, as people tend to become disinterested quickly if they are walking past or viewing the same display continuously, and shoppers soon stop noticing altogether. It is advised to change displays every two weeks.

A great way to create stunning and simple displays, is to plan your windows and merchandise that you will use for your display in advance. This means you can create the display quickly, ready for the shoppers as the winter season arrives, and it allows you to stay on top of your display as the stores become busier. You can incorporate our shop shelving for retailers to help you with your displaying task.

Make the Most of Winter

Throughout the winter season, one of the most prominent events is Christmas, and this can be incorporated in your display design. One of the easiest ways to stay on top of your windows, and to keep them fascinating is to embrace series of themes, and Christmas is an ideal theme at this time of year. Why not add a greeting card rack to remind people of the little things?

Our attention is captured by high contrast displays, and adopting a winter or Christmas theme gives retailers a fantastic opportunity to be bold and creative. There are so many different aspects of winter that you can bring to life to engage your customers.

Examples from previous years include using the corners of their windows to portray a snow and ice effect. Retailers can also use mannequins featuring aspects of the winter theme, with bold clothing displays, creating a stunning impact.

Apply the Three-Layer Rule

The three-layer rule is a widely used concept for retailers, as it is a simple way to add interest to window displays by using these different components to draw the customers in. Rather than relying on a single layer of design, using three depth layers create more interesting and captivating displays. This can encourage shoppers to look at the display for longer.

The first layer of depth is usually the window itself, which shows information and can incorporate the winter theme, an idea could be a delicate snowflake pattern. These are usually positioned in the corners to act as a frame for the overall window display.

The second layer is the main event of the display. Mannequins can be dressed in winter coats, with making sure the merchandise is clearly visible at the customers eye level. For example, if the display is for a children’s shop, the products need to be displayed so as to catch the attention of both the child and the parent.

The third layer is the backdrop to the display, where winter colours or imagery can be used to match the theme, in a way that doesn’t portray the window as being too cold or subdued and that celebrates the excitement of the season. An acrylic tiered display is ideal to accentuate the individuality of each layer whilst bringing them together.
