This is a road that is very bendy, with very few straight sections, it’s travels uphill rather than downhill and there have been lots of obstacles in the way but blogging is important and fun, and a real learning experience.
Until the early part of last year the last piece of creative writing I did was a very long time ago was when I was 16, sitting my O Level English! I see blogging as a way to keep my mind fit and active, I learn lots about a huge variety of things, including all things shop fitting and retail related. There are thousands of blogs on the internet detailing why writing a blog is important to a website, how it drives traffic and can even be a source of income but there are other reasons to write (and not just blogs).
Personally, it gives me a chance to work from home, with a cup of tea and a biscuit on my desk. I’m not interrupted by a ringing phone or someone asking me where this or that is kept. My dog keeps me company and I think he rather enjoys being curled up on the floor next to my desk. He does give me rather puzzled looks from time to time when I’m verbalising my work but I’m sure he knows as fair bit about shelving and retail displays! I keep him happy with a biscuit or two, bone shaped of course. He’s a rather large chocolate Labrador that thinks he’s about the size of a small terrier and gets himself into some rather amusing antics. I’ll tell you a tale or two someday.
Writing has allowed me to explore my imagination, hone my researching skills and improve my literacy. It has instilled some self-discipline and generally allowed me to draw on life experience and inject humour into informative and practical articles relating to shop fittings and fixtures.
