The Crown Slatwall Easy Hang Battens sometimes called ‘french cleats’ or ‘split battens’ makes light work of hanging heavy panels. We still recommend the full size panels are handled by a minimum of 2 people due to the weight.
Timber versions of French Cleats have been used for many years, and are known for their ability to hold heavy weights. Crown Display Slatwall Easy Hang Battens are manufactured in Aluminium and are pre-drilled. The battens come in pairs, one for the wall and one for the panel. They simply clip together.
You might be wondering how this makes the job easier. The main advantage is that you do not have to hold the full weight of the panel (40kg) whilst trying to fix it to the wall! The battens will not be visible. The batten is almost the full length of the panel and you can purchase 1m, 1.2m and 2.4m lengths. Each pair is an interlocking set. It is easy to see how the 2 interlocking parts fit together. Use a spirit level to ensure you get the battens fixed straight and we always recommend attaching the wall batten to as many wall studs as possible.
