Have you ever walked into a shop and looked around thinking how organised and stylish it all looks, then wished that your own, sometimes messy, wardrobe or dressing room could look like that? It can! And we can show you how….
I was reading over some older blogs today and this one in particular caught my attention. Now okay, some of these places are a bit strange (a loo?) but it got me thinking out the box if you like. Where could you put slatwall in the home? One look at my teenage daughter’s dressing room gave me the answer!
If your wardrobe or dressing room looks like this :
Then maybe you could transform it into something more organised, stylish and easier to keep tidy (after all, there is nothing worse than rummaging around the bottom of the cupboard looking for that matching shoe for your posh night out) Slatwall is such a versatile product, with many accessories and display rails available that can help you achieve this.
Slatwall isn’t the only shopfitting product that you can utilise in this way; retail shelving can be wall mounted and now comes in a great looking ‘Silver’ finish making it look a lot less like grocery shop shelving. Gridwall (mesh grid) can also be wall mounted. I’m going to concentrate on how you can use Slatwall or a combination of slatwall and modular shelving to make that messy space look fabulous.
You don’t need any special skills to do this, as long as you can do some basic DIY it’s fairly simple. Create shelf space by fixing some modular shelving uprights to the wall an appropriate distance apart and then fix some slatwall between the two uprights. Attach (no tools required) some shelves. These are probably best positioned slightly higher so you can hang things underneath. The slatwall can be any colour you like if you buy it ‘ready to paint’ or you can even have it mirrored! Use baskets, slatwall hooks, D rails and sloping arms to arrange your wardrobe to suit. If you don’t like it, you can change it around as all the slatwall accessories can be easily removed and positioned elsewhere on the slatwall. Have a look at shops (and not just their merchandise) see how they display and organise it then try to integrate some of this into your own space at home. Take note of the types of arms and rails they use, they are easy to order online from a good shopfitting supplier.
Transformation complete, you might start to have ideas about where else you can use fittings designed for retailers. I know I am starting on the garage! I’m fairly sure I’m not the only wife fed up tripping over the garden tools, bikes and car parts stored by a well-meaning, but poorly organised, husband.
