For several years, Crown Display has supported a variety of film and television productions, including a number of associated events, across the UK. This part of our business revolves around the supply, design, and, often, the assembly of retail furniture and shop equipment for sets, enabling visual media teams to create their desired retail environments within performances can take place.
It may come as a surprise to many, but a significant portion of scenes that occur within movies and television shows, such as supermarkets and retail businesses, are actually carefully constructed temporary sets. The designs of such productions often seek authenticity, recreating the likeness of a real retail experience for the screen, though they can occasionally have extra demands, such as to accommodate for camera or studio equipment or to have specially designed logos and aesthetics.
We have substantial experience supporting film and television productions, having collaborated with a number of studios, including Netflix, Warner Brothers, and Pinewood, as well as a number of iconic shows, such as Emmerdale and Casualty. Over the previous year, during the COVID outbreak and the resulting lockdowns, film and television productions were significantly affected, being unable to navigate restrictions and, in turn, entering a hiatus. This included various events that were closed due to the restrictions upon social distancing. Now, thankfully, productions and events are beginning to return and we are once again seeing demand for shop equipment hire.
